WASHINGTON (SBG) — One Idaho man's actions have left a sour taste in his mouth. He drank an entire liter of lemon juice in under 17 seconds.
16.53 seconds, to be exact.
For his latest achievement, Rush had to drink a liter of 100% lemon juice, through a straw and under 17.12 seconds, which was the previous record to beat.
Practice makes perfect, but Rush said he only drank a full liter of water twice to prepare for the record-breaking stunt. However, he said he did hone his skill by drinking half-liters of water dozens of times.
"The difference between a half a liter of liquid being added to the stomach in seconds and a liter is kind of like the difference between getting punched in the gut by my 4-year-old or by Manny Pacquiao," Rush wrote on his website.
Guinness didn't specify how long the lemon juice had to stay in his stomach, but Rush said he felt obligated to keep all of it down, adding it wouldn't be in the spirit of the rules if he let it come back up.
So, why would anyone do something like this?
Rush says it's for the love of STEM. He does stunts like this to encourage students to pursue science, technology, engineering and math.
He is releasing a book later this week called, "Breaking Records: 21 Lessons From 21 World Record Attempts."
Some other world records under Rush's belt include both the fastest and slowest juggler, and even the longest time balancing a chainsaw on the chin.
