WASHINGTON (SBG) -- As a heat wave continues to take place in many parts of the United States, some police departments are jokingly urging residents to take a break from committing crimes for a day.
In a Facebook post, Braintree Police Department in Massachusetts told followers to "hold off until Monday" because "it is straight up hot as soccer balls out there." The department continued on saying, "Conducting criminal activity, in this extreme heat is next level henchmen status, and also very dangerous."
The police department suggested staying home, blasting the AC and watching season 3 of "Stranger Things" among other activities.
Chicago Police's 9th District also joined in on the fun via Twitter by posting a picture of a sign saying, "sorry we're closed it's too hot!"
Due to the extreme heat all criminal activity for today will be cancelled. It is just too hot to be outside committing crimes," the tweet said. "We’re asking all aspiring criminals, seasoned veterans, & those committing crimes out of boredom, to please stay indoors."
