Lexus of Richmond’s week 2 scholar athlete for the Lexus Leadership Award is Shreya Sharma of the Collegiate School. Having a current 4.43 GPA, she has consistently been on the All A Honor Roll and is a Cum Laude Inductee. Shreya scored a 34 out of 36 on the ACT exam. With 3 perfect AP exams, she is an AP Scholar with Honors. Shreya has received the Wellesley Book Award which is given to students who excel in academics. She has been the recipient of a Historical Research Paper Clio Award and an Honorable Mention in the Scholastic Art Competition. She was also recognized with a HOBY Presidential Service Award.
An active member of Collegiate’s student body, Shreya is the Student Government Service Council Co-Chair. With the service club, Ramp Access Made Possible by Students (RAMPS), she has served as both the President and VP. While serving as the President the group was the recipient of the National Youth Philanthropy Award. Shreya has served as the President of Mosaic, a Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice focused club. She was a member of a 15 person student team, the Blue Origin Science Research Group. This group worked to send an experiment into space by testing diffusion rates of a membrane in zero g. Shreya is an active participant in Bhangra and Bharatnatyam which are forms of Indian dance. Additionally, Shreya was selected to attend the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities Harold M. Marsh Jr. Connections
Institute (10th) and the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (10th and 12th).
As a three sport athlete at Collegiate, Shreya is a member of the spring and winter track teams and the tennis team. On the Varsity Tennis team, she is the captain for her senior season. Shreya is ranked number 2 for double and number 4 for singles. In 2018 the team won both the LIS and State Tennis Championship. Shreya was chosen as a captain for both winter and spring track in her junior season. She competes in long jump, triple jump, hurdles and sprints. Shreya has competed in the VISAA State Competition for the 4×4 team event. Her track teammates have voted her the winner of the Spirit Award (3 times) and the Dedication Award.
Throughout her high school years, Shreya has volunteered for the Faison School, a school for children with autism. She has participated in their summer enrichment program and their college prep program. Additionally she has been on the Service Council for the Oreo Ball and Carnation Fundraiser for the Faison School. She has given her time to the Salvation Army by packing donating toys for children at Christmas time. Shreya has also volunteered for the Annual Sweetheart Dance for the residents of a retirement home, Lakewood Manor. Her other service projects include Earth Day Temple beautification, RVAccess, summer camp leader, and school event volunteering.
