Nate Welles, Week 12 Nominee

Congratulations, Nate Welles of Atlee High School, Lexus of Richmond's Week 12 Leadership Award Nominee!

With a current 4.56 GPA, Nate is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Spanish and Latin Honor Societies. He is a full International Baccalaureate student and is a member of the BETA Club and a Hanover Scholar. He received a biology award for academic excellence and was nominated as a Junior Marshall.

Nate is a 4 year Varsity Cross Country, a 4 year Varsity Indoor Track, and a 3 year Varsity Outdoor Track runner at Atlee. He additionally played on the JV soccer team during his freshman year. In 2015, he was part of the conference champion cross country team. The indoor track team took the conference championship in 2016 and 2017, and the outdoor track team won the conference championship in 2017. For indoor track in 2017, Nate took an individual conference championship, was named an All-Region Athlete, and placed 6th during states all for the 4x800m relay.

Ever present in Atleeā€™s community, Nate is the current Student Council President and was the Junior Class President last year. He is a two year Vice President for the BETA Club, and his is the Spanish Honor Society Vice President. Nate is a four year member of the Key Club and the secretary of the Computer Club. Nate is a founding member of multiple clubs including the Raider Writing Center, the Film Club, and the CMS/IB Alliance. He is also a member of SODA (Student Organization in Developing Attitude), where high school students mentor elementary students to improve self esteem and assist with attitudes and social issues.

An active service participant, Nate was involved in raising over $3,600 for ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation through the Dunkin Donuts Munchkin Run. He has been involved in organizations such as Relevance Rising Guatemala and the Monument 10k. He has spent time with Atlee Loves and the Lollipop Movement. Nate has volunteered by doing trash pick up at RIR and trail cleanup at Atlee. Additionally, Nate has volunteered in various community service projects through the Beta Club, National Honor Society and the Spanish & Latin Honor Societies.

Nate is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
