Jacob Moss, Week 28 Nominee

Lexus of Richmond’s 28th weekly nominee for the Lexus Leadership Award is Jacob Moss of Powhatan High School. With a current 4.416 GPA Jacob is ranked in the top 3 of his class. He scored a 1420 out of a possible 1600 on the SAT exam and he earned a total of 6 perfect scores on his AP exams. Jacob is a member of the National English Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and National Science Honor Society. He was selected to be a Junior Marshall, and Jacob received an Academic Excellence Award for the 2017-18 school year. Jacob is a two time nominee for the 2019 Sports Backers Student-Athlete of the Month Award.

Outside of academics, Jacob is member of several Powhatan High School organizations. He participates with the Future Business Leaders of America; they were State Qualifiers for their business plan. Jacob is also involved with the PHS Chieftains. Jacob is a Chemistry Club Officer, and he is a member of both the Interact Club and the Guitar Club. Outside of school, Jacob spends time with the Blackhawk Gym and Youth Wrestling Club in Powhatan.

In the athletic arena, Jacob is a member of the Powhatan wrestling and football teams. A Varsity Football player since sophomore year, he has played QB, LB, K and P. Jacob has served as a captain for both the JV and Varsity football team. He has been on the Varsity Wrestling team since 2015. In 2018, he was selected for the 1st Team All District and 2nd Team All Region for the 182 lbs weight class. He was also a 4A State Qualifier in 2018. He received the Mike Walter Most Improved Wrestler Award as a junior. For his senior season Jacob was the Arrowhead Invitational Champion, and he was awarded the team Coaches’ Award. He was selected to the 2019 1st Team All District for the 195 weight class. Jacob was the 4B Regional Runner-Up, and he finished the State Championship in 5th place. Jacob is a 4x nominee for the C&F Bank Athlete of the Week for the Powhatan Today paper.

Active in his community, Jacob has dedicated his time to numerous groups. He volunteers for the Blackhawk Nonprofit Youth Development Center, and he participated with the Mike Walter T-Shirt Fundraiser. In 2017 and 2018 he was Powhatan Tribe Youth Football Camp Counselor. He has volunteered for the Powhatan High School Show Choir Classic and the Country Kickin’ ALS Awareness Event and Fundraiser. Jacob is also involved in the Powhatan Amnesty Recycling Event and the Powhatan County Earth Day Celebration.
