Congratulations, Grace Wielar of St. Catherine's School, Lexus of Richmond's week 24 Leadership Award Nominee!

Following her end of year AP Tests, Grace was named an AP Scholar. In 2017 Grace was selected as a USA Swimming Scholastic All American based on the combination of her GPA and swimming time standards.

Having been on St. Catherine’s Varsity Swim Team since 8th grade, Grace has received 5 Varsity Letters, and is the captain of the team for her senior year. Having qualified for States in 2014, she became a State Finalist in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She was named to the All State Team in seven events in 2015, 2016 and 2017. For the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, Grace was named to the All League of Independent Schools in 2017. She was recognized as part of the Richmond Times Dispatch All Metro Team in 2017. Grace is a member of the 2017 VISAA State Championship winning team, and she is the State Champion of the 200 medley relay. She holds 6 school records in the pool at St. Catherine’s, and in 2017 she was the recipient of the Golden Goggles Award (MVP). She has also recently committed to swim for Villanova next year.

Outside of athletics, Grace is involved with her church youth group and is a part of various groups at St. Catherine’s. She is a member of the Speak-Up Club which focuses on mental health, personal reflection and suicide awareness/prevention. She is a Student Ambassador where Grace leads prospective students and parents on tours of the school. Grace was additionally a part of the school’s 125th Anniversary Greeting Committee. Other organizations she participates with include: surfrider club, a dance group Joni and the knitting club.

Committed to giving back to her community, Grace is involved with numerous worthy groups and causes. With her passion for swimming, she volunteers with the Special Olympics and at swim clinics and master swim meets. She spends time with the Saturday Academy at St. Christopher’s for underprivileged children in RVA. Grace has spent time with Feedmore, the Hilliard House and Tool Bank as well.

Grace is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
