Congratulations to Lexus of Richmond’s week 6 nominee for the Leadership Award Scholarship, Eve Maddock of Saint Gertrude High School.

With a current 4.49 GPA, Eve has received two perfect scores on final AP exams and a 33 out of 36 on the ACT test. She has received recognition from Saint Gertrude for her achievements in various subjects with the Spanish, Geometry, English Department Awards (5 awards in total). Eve has also been selected by the school for the Cultural Arts Award and twice for the Presidential Service Award. As a sophomore Eve received the National Spanish Exam Gold Award. As a junior Eve was awarded the Harvard Book Award and Saint Michael’s College Book Award and Scholarship.

During Eve’s time at Saint Gertrude she has participated in a number of activities. Freshman year she joined the World Language Club; now as a fourth year member, she is the group’s President. Eve is a member of the Model General Assembly and a Student Cooperative Representative. As a sophomore she was the Class Secretary and Treasurer. Beginning junior year Eve is a peer tutor for Spanish and math. Eve is a student ambassador coordinator where she gives tours to perspective students. She has also been involved in SPAAP (Spreading Positive Attitudes Among Peers) and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions).

While attending Saint Gertrude, Eve has been a member of the volleyball teams since freshman year. As a freshman she was named the JV MVP, and she then followed up as the JV captain during her sophomore season. She is now in her second year on the Varsity team where she plays as a setter. With the JV basketball team, Eve was named the MVP in 9th grade and served as captain in 10th. She has also been on the Varsity basketball team since 10th grade. She plays as a guard, and was selected for the Most Improved Player Award. During her freshman and sophomore year, Eve ran on the Varsity track team. Both seasons she was named MVP.

Over the last few years, Eve has volunteered her time for worthy organizations. She has spent time with the Virginia State Parks Youth Conservation Corps. Eve has volunteered to help run a summer coding camp at Saint Gertrude. Following a trip to Haiti with a few classmates, Eve started a campaign to benefit the girls campus of an orphanage in Hinche, Haiti. To read more about her experience, click here.
