He currently has a overall GPA of 4.13. He is a three time recipient of the Powhatan High School Academic Excellence Award from 2015 – 2017. Collin has also received the VHSL Academic Excellence Award for his first three years of school.
As a member of Powhatan’s Varsity Wrestling Team since freshman year, Collin has been a captain of the team since sophomore year. During his career, he has become a 4 time VHSL 4A State Champion on the wrestling mat. He was named to the 2017 All Metro team. In 2015, Collin was named the Beast of the East All American. As a junior, he was named both the Region 4A Wrestler of the Year and the Conference 20 Wrestler of the Year. Following his 10th and 11th grade seasons, Powhatan named Collin their Athlete of the Year.
While attending Powhatan, Collin has been involved in several groups outside of athletics. He has been a member of the Interact Club. Through this Rotary sponsored club, the students are able to participate in various service projects. Collin is also a 4 year member of the Powhatan Leftovers Club. The students in this club work together to raise cancer awareness. They participate in Relay for Life events, color runs, and other various events throughout the year.
Throughout his high school career, Collin has been involved in multiple community service projects. He completed a summer mission trip in Cherokee, North Carolina through the Powhatan Community Church. Through the Nehemiah Project, Collin has spent time working with families in low income housing in the Richmond area. Additionally, he has worked as a volunteer at the Claws and Paws Animal Hospital. His time here has helped develop Collin’s interest in veterinary science, and he would like to pursue a career in this field.
Collin is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
