Congratulations, Camryn MacAleese of Deep Run High School, Lexus of Richmond’s week 15 Leadership Award nominee!

Camryn is in the top 10% of her class with a current 4.39 GPA. She is a member of both the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the Math National Honor Society. Camryn scored a 1480 on the SATs, a 740 out of 800 on the SAT Math II, and a 33 out of 36 on the ACTs.

While attending Deep Run, Camryn has played three years of Varsity Lacrosse as an attacker as well as 3 years of Varsity Field Hockey. With the field hockey team, Camryn was the captain for her senior season. Playing as a forward, she led the team in goals and assists during her junior year. As a senior she led the team in goals and was second in assists. In 2016 and 2017, Camryn was named to the first team all metro in 2016 and 2017; she was also named to the second team all region in 2017 for her efforts on the team.

Outside of school, Camryn in heavily involved in Girl Scouts. She became a member as a kindergartener and has received her bronze, silver and gold award. She also has participated in over five years of club field hockey and tournaments through the Richmond Strikers. At Deep Run, she is a member of the FCCLA. Through this club, she has been a teacher intern at Shady Grove Elementary for two years. Camryn is a council member of the Deep Run Mentor Club. This group mentors freshman and new students to the school; as a council member, she is one of seven leaders in charge of twenty-one mentors.

To help earn her Girl Scouts Gold Award, Camryn assisted the Glen Allen Neighbors Helping Neighbors. This organization not only provides literacy support, but also helps residents in subsidized housing provide Christmas gifts for their children. Camryn developed a website to help automate/simplify the sign up process for both the donors and recipients. She has also volunteered as a field hockey coach and referee for the YMCA. With the Shadycats Field Hockey Club, she has spent time as a coach, referee and mentor for the last two years since its inception.

Camryn is now in the running for the $10,000 scholarship.
